At Neurelec, we think it’s important for patients to access the most natural hearing.
We have designed the Digisonic® SP Binaural implant to stimulate both ears. These binaural processors are as easy to use as any monaural implant--and just as reliable.
The Digisonic® SP Binaural is unique. It is the only implant dedicated to binaural stimulation for adult patients.
Unlike having two separate implants, one in each ear (bilateral implantation), the Digisonic® SP Binaural integrates two electrode arrays into one single implant allowing both cochleae to be stimulated simultaneously and synchronously thereby producing a single stereo sound.

... A SOUND PROCESSOR easy to live with
Simple to use, Saphyr® processors are intuitive and easy to handle.
Having multiple options/programs can sometimes seem complicated but thanks to the Saphyr® program selector all you have to do is switch to one of the four stored programs. Adjusting for a new sound environment is always just one click away.
For true binaural sound, a compact contralateral microphone (worn on the opposite ear) is discreetly linked to the processor, providing the processor with the acoustic signal from the other ear. The Saphyr® processor analyses the microphone signals coming from each ear separately but synchronously and sends the appropriate stimulation to the left and right electrode arrays for true binaural hearing.

A simple device for a simple life
Because the Digisonic® SP Binaural uses a single integrated binaural processor, it is simple to use. There is only one set of batteries to change, one program selector controls both ears, and one auxiliary input (for accessories) that is routed automatically to both ears.

Recent studies have indicated that bilateral cochlear implantation enhances speech perception in noisy environments over single implants. With two implants, patients are better able to differentiate speech from background noise and can monitor more than one sound at a time.
NHS
The Digisonic Binaural implant offers adult UK patients to have the performance benefit of two implants for the same price as a standard cochlear implant. The Digisonic Binaural implant is registered under the NHS, meaning that any patient can choose between a standard implant for one ear and a binaural device for both.
